Modeling of seismic waves in 3-D laterally varying, layered isotropic and anisotropic structures. Program package ANRAY

Ivan Psencik

Summary

The most important innovations of the programme package ANRAY, version 3.02 are briefly described and illustrated. In the new version, it is possible to calculate ray synthetic wave field generated by a point source situated in an arbitrary point of an isotropic or anisotropic layer. It is possible to calculate two-point rays to profiles, which do not pass through the source. Substantial modifications of the two-point ray tracing procedure based on the paraxial ray approximation are introduced. Another important innovation is the possibility to plot vertical plane sections of slowness surface, phase velocity surface or group velocity surfaces. Test data attached to the package are specified so that they can be used to illustrate the new possibilities of the package. Possible future modifications of the package are proposed.
