Radiation patterns of point sources situated close to the Earth's surface

Petr Jilek & Vlastislav Cerveny

Summary

Radiation patterns of point sources situated close to the Earth's surface are discussed. The medium in the vicinity of the Earth's surface is either locally homogeneous, or contains a thin surficial low-velocity layer. The main attention is devoted to point sources of explosive type and to single force point sources. Both horizontal and vertical single forces are considered. A general computer program designed for the computation of radiation patterns of point sources situated on the boundaries of thin transition layer is described. It is based on the hybrid ray-reflectivity method.
