Seismic wavefields in inhomogeneous anisotropic media

Summary

Brief description of the program package ANRAY, version 3.01, for computing seismic wavefields in 3-D laterally inhomogeneous models of media composed of isotropic and anisotropic layers is given. Several possible applications of the package are illustrated on synthetic examples. Among these applications are: calculation of ray synthetic seismograms, which includes calculation of rays, travel times and ray amplitudes of considered elementary waves; calculation of reflection/transmission coefficients at an interface separating an isotropic halfspace form a transversely isotropic halfspace with horizontal axis of symmetry; modelling of zero-offset sections in anisotropic structures; solution of a kinematic inverse problem in an inhomogeneous transversely isotropic halfspace. Possible modifications and generalizations of the package are discussed.
